Walk to School Day
International Walk to School Day began in 1997 as an idea sponsored by the Walkable America group. When it first began it was simply a day to easily bring together community leaders and children in order to create awareness of the need for communities to be walkable.
Today parents, teachers, children, and community leaders in all 50 states are joined with nearly 3 million walkers around the world to celebrate the annual Walk to School Day.
